This product has been tested on young squirrels at Squirrels And More, we do recommend supervision to make sure the babie's do not get their nails caught in the mesh. They work wonderful and do allow the animal to climb the walls and ceiling. We have been using them on young squirrels up to eight weeks of age with no problems. We recommend the 22 & 38 gallon for squirrels. These enclosures are also very popular and successful to use with Flying Squirrels.It is recommended to NOT use these enclosures with Woodpeckers, for their forked tongue is able to get caught in the mesh.
